Yusuf Macun

Managing Partner

Yusuf Macun has over 20 years of experience in energy and infrastructure financing and investments, with a focus on the power, infrastructure, oil and gas and renewables sectors. His impressive track record includes the successful closing of cross-border deals in excess of USD 17B in a range of emerging and developed markets, in particular, the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Before founding Cranmore Partners in 2017, Yusuf held leadership roles including global head of project and commercial finance at Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA). Prior to that, he was head of power and renewables for Europe and Africa at HSBC London where he advised governments and companies on a wide range of transactions across EMEA in sectors including wind, solar, coal/oil/gas-fired thermal and nuclear power generation. He also gained valuable transaction expertise and experience in prior roles at the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund, Lazard, Flemings and Rolls-Royce Power Ventures.

Yusuf has a master’s degree in international finance and management from HEC Paris, and a master’s degree in engineering and computer science from ENSIMAG in Grenoble.

Paul Norris

Partner

Paul Norris

Partner

Paul has over 25 years’ experience in energy, infrastructure and natural resource projects with roles in investment, finance and development in the EMEA and Asian regions, in both developed (UK, Europe, USA, Australia, N. Asia) and emerging markets (ME, Africa, S.Asia, Russia/CIS).  Paul has strong experience in investment appraisal, financial advisory, financial structuring and modelling, debt underwriting and arranging, project and acquisition finance. 

Prior to joining Cranmore Partners, Paul was a Senior Infrastructure Advisor at the Abu Dhabi Department of Finance (DOF) where he led the governments alternative and infrastructure finance capability.  Before this Paul ran DOF’s USD5bn infrastructure fund since its inception in 2014 targeting infrastructure  investments mainly in Russia/CIS.  

He also gained valuable transaction expertise and experience in prior senior roles at ACWA Power, VTB Capital, ABN AMRO, EDF Energy, Bank of Ireland.

Paul has an MSc DIC in Metals & Energy Finance from Imperial College (London); is an Energy Risk Professional (GARP); a Member of Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment (CISI); a Chartered Engineer (UK); a Chartered Geologist (UK)

Richa Prasad

Partner

Richa has 17 years’ experience in energy and infrastructure project financing in the EMEA and Asia regions, with particular focus on emerging markets and with products utilising both debt and capital markets.

Prior to joining Cranmore Partners, Richa was Executive Director and Head of Power, Utilities, Metals and Mining at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) for the EMEA region. Richa has strong experience in financial structuring, debt underwriting and arranging, project and acquisition finance, derivatives structuring and managing specialist advisors while performing due diligence roles.

Richa has successfully closed in excess of 40 transactions during her work with SMBC, across Europe, Middle East, North Africa and Asia in sectors ranging from power generation, water desalination, wastewater treatment, district cooling, air separation, metals and mining and regulated networks and the telecom sector.

Prior to SMBC London, Richa worked with SMBC in Asia on various financial advisory transactions, including the Singapore power privatisation, advising sponsors on a light rail transport project in Manila and a water pipeline project between Indonesia and Singapore. Prior to SMBC, Richa worked in Investment Banking in Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong and India in the TMT sector on various M&A transactions.

Richa is a qualified Electrical Engineer from Delhi University and has done her MBA with specialisation in finance from the Indian Institute of Management.

Meishi Tan

Senior Associate

Meishi Tan has strong transaction advisory and strategy consulting experience in the finance and energy space, with particular focus on solar and renewables.

Prior to joining Cranmore Partners, Meishi was Senior Consultant at Berlin-based cleantech advisory Apricum where her work included JV development, international partner search, feasibility study, business plan development/modeling, due diligence on emerging technologies, and corporate and venture fundraising.

Prior to Apricum, Meishi was an Analyst with Citigroup Investment Banking in Hong Kong, where she participated in various M&A and capital markets transactions in the Asia Pacific region.

Meishi holds a MSc. In Sustainable Development from HEC and a BBA (Honours) from the National University of Singapore.

Although a banking background is a common theme amongst our advisors, we can also draw on experience from strategic consulting and central government.

Nick Sinden

Senior Advisor

Nick is an energy and infrastructure expert whose previous roles have included being a director responsible for originating and executing European power and renewables business for the No.1 rated HSBC Project Finance team working on over USD40billion of projects and 6GW of new generating capacity.

Nick has significant international experience in originating, advising, assessing, structuring and negotiating major project finance transactions for greenfield and operating projects across all classes of infrastructure asset and lending sources across EMEA.

Within the power space, he has worked across a range of different technologies on renewables projects (onshore and offshore wind, solar and biomass), thermal power projects (nuclear, gas, coal), and power infrastructure (inter-connectors, smart meters) with private and public clients.

After leaving HSBC, he joined Akereos Capital as a founding member during the summer of 2016. Akereos is a start-up infrastructure debt fund focused on UK / Eurozone renewables currently in the capital-raising phase. The company’s objective is to raise a fund that can provide higher risk, short term bridge financing for acquisition, ware-housing and construction situations for developers and asset owners. 

Prior to HSBC, Nick trained and qualified as a chartered accountant at KPMG in London working with financial services sector clients. 

Nick has a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom.

Within the power space, we have worked across a range of different technologies on renewable projects, thermal power projects and power infrastructure.

Umang Agarwal

Senior Financial Modeller

Umang has a strong financial modelling and Visual Basic (VBA) background with over eight years of experience in working across different industries such as renewables (wind, solar), utilities (conventional power, water), oil & gas, mining, transport and energy infrastructure. He has successfully supported private sector clients across the globe, in particular the MENA region, by providing robust and flexible financial models to support bid submissions, financial close, pre-feasibility analysis and feasibility analysis. In addition, Umang has three years experience in government side advisory for transport infrastructure in India .

Umang has led a team of seven financial modellers, delivered Project Finance training and has also contributed in development of FAST financial modelling standard.

Prior to joining Cranmore, Umang worked with EY (India) and PwC (India) in the government infrastructure advisory practice. Before this Umang worked as a team manager at F1F9 (a boutique financial modelling company).

Umang has an M.B.A. in Finance from Institute for Technology & Management – Navi Mumbai and is a qualified Information Technology engineer from UP technical university.

The purpose of a good financial model is to generate the insights that support better commercial decision making.
